I am Maria,an Associate of the Actuarial Society of the Philippines and a Fellow of the Life Office Management Institute and currently pursuing my Society of Actuaries actuarial examinations.
I have had 18 years of actuarial exposure, both in the corporate and academe fields. I had 10 long years of teaching experience as Professor/Lecturer of the Department of Math & Physics at the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines handling Algebra, Differential and Integral Calculus and actuarial subjects like Theory of Interest and Life Contingencies. I also provided thesis consultation to graduating BS Actuarial Mathematics students.
My academic actuarial exposure equipped me with concrete mathematical and analytical competencies, as well as development of my communication skills,specifically the ability to convey technical actuarial results and observations to layman’s level of understanding,which directed me to enrich my 14 years of corporate actuarial experience as well.
My corporate actuarial exposure were varied, from different lines of business and different actuarial functions as well. I have gained significant experiences on actuarial studies & research, as well as product development and financial reporting. I have also significant exposure on compensation and benefits costing for the agency rewards & recognition system.
