Hey there! My name is Nathan, and I graduated from UCLA with a degree in Linguistics and Computer Science
. My passions include classical music
, and--of course--teaching.
I've been tutoring my peers since the sixth grade
. Throughout school, I have excelled in all academic subjects (except sometimes history
). Past students have noted my patient and detailed teaching style. I will not chastise a student for mistakes, nor am I satisfied until I know my student understands the material! I have always had a knack for math
, but I'm also a confident and exacting writer and proofreader; I can ensure that my student's grammar
is impeccable, and explain exactly how the rules work.
For three years (2010-2012), I wrote and proofread multiple-choice tests for a practice test company. I currently volunteer for BEAM, an organization
at UCLA that aims to provide exciting science education for elementary school students in the Los Angeles area.
I do very well on standardized tests, and I know lots of little tricks and tips!
My standardized test scores are as follows: 2310 SAT
(800 verbal, 740 math, 770 writing
), 780 SAT II
Math, 780 SAT II Chemistry
. 5's on the following AP tests: Calculus
BC and AB, U.S. History
, U.S. Government, Comparative Government (without taking any class on it), Macroeconomics
. 4's on the following AP tests: Language
and Composition, Language and Literature
, Chemistry (without taking the AP class!), Statistics
Throughout my school career, I never scored below Proficient on standardized tests, and more often than not made it into the Advanced category. Furthermore, I was a national champion in a competition called Academic Decathlon, which centers around testing students on detailed extra-curricular subjects.
