I currently attend Claremont McKenna College.

My name is Jordan and I attended the University of Pennsylvania. After taking a semester off from school and working, I learned the importance of collegiate success and necessity to plan career goals. I decided to transfer from UPenn because I realized that I will return to California post graduation and believe establishing professional relationships on the West Coast is more beneficial for me. I am also interested in non-traditional fields, including alternative energy, education, and mental health. I am currently a Philosophy and Public Affairs Major with a Finance minor.

I am currently involved in collegiate debate, high school debate (coach - private and volunteer), and the Young Entrepreneurs club.

--

At UPenn I was a Benjamin Franklin Scholar, which is an honor bestowed upon the top 5% of the University. For high school I graduated from the College Preparatory School, a school ranked 6th in the nation.

What I have to offer is my experience and knowledge that got me into the Ivy League. I believe any student, whether a C-student or A, can succeed with the right kind of teaching and encouragement. The services I provide are private touring and ivy preparation.

ADD/ADHD

As a student in developmental psychology, I specialize in teaching children with learning disorders. Having ADD/ADHD myself, I can personally relate to the problems at hand and use my experience with these disorders to help me communicate ideas and organizational skills effectively. I have taught classes on study skills to underprivileged youth in West Philadelphia while I was at the University of Pennsylvania.

College Counseling

I am a student myself and understand the approach from the student perspective and have gone through the process. I currently attend the University of Pennsylvania and am in the honors program.

I've reviewed college essays and helped complete applications for acceptances into major universities, including Dartmouth College and Stanford University.

Elementary (K-6th)

I enjoy tutoring younger students and have some experience doing so. I have tutored 4th graders at a local elementary school and worked as a teaching assistant for a 6th grade class. Learning rates change drastically during these early years and I understand the necessity for a flexible approach to foster future success.

English

I am an English minor at the University of Pennsylvania taking the spring semester off. I have tutored in reading and writing over the past year. I have written for publications at Penn and spend my free time reading literature.

I played varsity golf at The College Preparatory School in Oakland and The Palmer School in Walnut Creek. I one year of teaching experience and I am a member of Roundhill CC.

Social Studies

I have participated in Penn's Integrated Studies Program. This program combines multiple disciplines in the humanities and social sciences to teach students how to synthesize information. I have tutored in Social Studies and History over the past 2 years and enjoy both subjects. I focus more on big picture ideas than memorization in my tutoring.

Study Skills

As an experienced student myself, I have development many different study strategies and skills to help propel me to my current standing as an undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania after attending the College Preparatory School in Oakland. I have taught study skills and strategies to underprivileged youth in West Philadelphia as well as classes for those with learning disorders. Excellent Tutor for SAT English — Jordan helped my son with his SAT English over the summer. He is an excellent teacher. He knows his subject area. Although my son went to a private middle school, he got a very poor grade on the SAT English. Jordan showed him how to go about the English section. We saw a significant improvement on the practice test scores, and I am sure we will see the same when he takes the SAT again in a few wee ...
