Do you find math to be boring, frustrating, or difficult? You’re not alone. Many students find themselves staring at their math homework assignments with no idea where to begin, and with (they think) no hope of learning how to do it.
I have been tutoring students for the past 12 years (ever since I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering), and it is my belief that almost anyone can learn to do math – if they have someone to teach them. In a classroom, the teacher shows the class one way to solve a problem – and that’s it; some of the students will understand, and many others will not. My experiences have taught me that different people have different styles of learning, and as a tutor it is my job to find learning styles that makes sense for each of my students. For instance, one of my students was a very artistic person; I showed him how he could actually use his doodling to help solve his math problems.
My teaching style is to break down complicated concepts into simple “bite-sized” portions that are easy to understand and remember. I enjoy seeing my students gain confidence in their abilities, and realize that they CAN learn to do math, and do it well. I am very patient with my students; I understand that it takes time and repetition to learn something new.
Although math is what I am most experienced in, I am also proficient in Reading and English.
I hope to hear from you!
