Hi! My name is Roxana and I have always been passionate about learning and teaching. I enjoy the many elements in the field of education. I appreciate the exchanges and learning opportunities I get when working with different students, their perspectives, personalities and backgrounds. I enjoy the challenge of discovering how to best assist a student through his/her learning process by acknowledging the diversity of people's learning styles. I have always had a preference for teaching math and Spanish. I feel very comfortable with these subjects and feel I've had the most experience teaching them.
I have had plenty of experience teaching and tutoring throughout my years as a substitute teacher, teacher, tutor and tutoring center coordinator. Working as a Spanish teacher for an International Baccalaureate school in Los Angeles, and as a High School student teacher, I learned to design and implement comprehensive, inquiry-based curricula. In my years as a tutoring center coordinator and throughout my studies (I have a teaching credential as well as a M.A. in teaching) I have learned wonderful techniques that have proven to be very successful for the many students I've worked with. Through my experience, I have come to understand how having high expectations and providing a consistently supportive learning environment can positively affect student results. I look forward to working with any family that may require my services.
