I am a professional tutor in English, ESL, Reading/Writing, or any of the Humanities (History, Political Science, Philosophy, Economics, etc.)
My Masters Degree is in Teaching International Languages (with distinction), and I also have certificates in Teaching College-Level Writing and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). For my undergraduate degree, I earned a Bachelors in History (with honors) and a minor in Philosophy.
I've worked at Cal. State Univ., Chico as a composition workshop leader, writing mentor, and ESL mentor for numerous students--ranging from freshmen to seniors. I've also done test preparation courses for the TOEFL and IELTS exams. I currently work with several online companies teaching ESL/EFL in Russia, Peru, and Japan.
Based on my expertise and experience, I know successful learning stems from:
1. Being motivated to learn the subject matter, which often comes from personal inquiries and goals related to the subject.
2. Having the opportunity to participate in the practices and skills one wants to learn, whatever they may be.
3. Having an excellent, knowledgeable, patient, and student-oriented teacher to help move one towards their own goals.
I sincerely care about people and I've always enjoyed teaching and helping others. I would love to help you achieve your educational goals, and I promise to work with you for as long as you need.
Thank you for your consideration. I hope to hear from you soon.
