My qualifications as a tutor stem from both my degree and experience. I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in English and currently working towards my Master's in Organizational Leadership. I have spent countless hours gaining tutoring and teaching experience as a Rotaract Volunteer with Nativity Prep Academy which is an accredited, all-scholarship middle school dedicated to providing a rigorous college-preparatory education for economically underrepresented students. My other experience was gained as a Trio Student support service Mentor 2011, for students who are either Underrepresented minorities, disabled or first generation. I have helped first year students acclimate and adjust to the University of San Diego, and I served them as a tutor and often a proofreader.
As a Nativity Prep tutor I assisted students with homework, study skills, grammar, proofreading, and standardized test preparation. With patience and dedication I have assisted in helping these very inquisitive and hard working youth achieve their educational goals. My curriculum focused on concise and focused writing skills as well as grammar and vocabulary usage. As a Trio SSS mentor, I have assisted college age students with writing papers of various subjects from History and Anthropology to Lab reports and Poetry.
My academic strengths include History, English Literature and Language, reading comprehension study skills and writing. Yet, I am also comfortable tutoring some math and sciences and a multitude of other subjects as well as standardized test preparation SAT and the ACT. I am confident in my ability as a tutor because of my sincere commitment and dedication to education. It is my belief that learning should be engaging and even fun. I strive to provide a comfortable and effective learning environment to help students reach their full potential.
Note: Current Mon-Thurs 2pm-7pm, Fridays 11am-6pm. I do not tutor in home; tutoring appointments must occur at libraries and coffee houses.
