University of California Merced (Mechanical Engineer)
My name is Eric S. I am a third year student at the University of California Merced majoring in Mechanical engineering. As a student at a UC I know what it takes to succeed and what is expected of every student, so for any high school student wishing to pursue a higher education in college I can provide some great tips and study skills that can provide useful as you move further into your academics. As a Mechanical engineer I have taken many courses that deal directly with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Writing. I have taken courses in Calculus, Probability and Statistics, Differential Equations and Linear Algebra, Vector Calculus, and I am currently enrolled in a Numerical Analysis course that deals with MATLAB. I have also taken Physics for engineers and am enrolled in Statics and Dynamics which is somewhat of an extension of general physics, so i can prove to be very useful and helpful in that area.
I am currently pursuing a minor in Writing, simply because I have a passion for writing and believe that each and every individual has a story to tell. It is important to tell your story and embrace it, because it is that story that makes us who we are. As a minor in Writing, I can be an extensive help in writing essays, how to break down writing prompts and I can provide tips on what exactly some professors are looking for. I can also be helpful in terms of grammar, vocabulary and the mechanics of writing (i.e., sentence structure, punctuation, etc.).

Perie was very happy with Wednesday's lesson with Eric. He has helped her become more comfortable with her math. He seems to read her perfectly when it comes to her weaknesses. She had a quiz Thursday and came away feeling very comfortable . I am anxious to find out her results. Just seeing her so confident was an accomplishment.
Eric has been working with my son since the school year started in August. He is knowledgeable about the material and always prepared for the lesson. He has been extremely dependable, never missing or canceling a lesson. He is extremely professional and always shows great appreciation for his work. I highly recommend Eric as a tutor. He has been a great asset to my son during his senior year. We will definitely have him work with our younger son as well!
Eric was an absolute professional as he interacted with our family. Eric is a great communicator, encourager, and motivator. The results are extremely measurable as our son went from a failing grade, where he didn't understand any of the concepts in geometry, to finishing the course with a strong "B". Thank you!
Thank you, Eric, for all your help. I think my daughter will benefit from all you've taught her. You were really patient with her and we are grateful that we chose you as her tutor. Thank you, again.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am currently a 3rd year college student at UC Merced majoring in mechanical engineering. As an engineer I have taken advanced courses in Mathematics, which really build upon ideas that stem from geometry, trigonometry and Algebra. My background in Math and my enthusiasm for it really qualifies me and defines me as a great tutor.
I have taken algebra 2 previously in high school and have taken advanced math courses in college that requires a student to really have a solid background in algebra. Studies have shown that collaborative learning is the key to learning, and I plan to implement collaborative learning in my lessons where we learn together about numbers, systems of inequalities, sequence and sums, types of functions and how to solve them. Most of the topics mentioned in the previous sentence is really the core of algebra 2.
I took Calculus I and and Calculus II for engineering at the University of California Merced, and passed both courses with an A. I have also taken Vector Calculus, which is the equivalent to Calculus III, and passed that with an A also. Most upper division engineering courses require a solid background in Calculus, thus I am always constantly reviewing the material.
Eric S. passed a background check on 8/25/14. The check was ordered by another user through First Advantage. For more information, please review the background check information page.
After sending a message to Eric, you will be able to order a new background check for $7.99. As part of your tutor selection process, we encourage you to run updated background checks. Please also review the safety tips for hiring tutors.
