Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Microsoft Outlook

I have a valid Career Technical Education credential in the subject of Information Technology. I have been teaching Outlook to student inmates since 2009. I have used Outlook in the workplace since before the year 2000 to manage email, as well as task planning/management, and to schedule meetings with colleagues and reserve the necessary resources to conduct those meetings.

Microsoft Windows

I have a valid Career Technical Education credential in the subject of Information Technology. I have been teaching student inmates to use the Windows XP, and Windows 7 operating systems since 2009. I also teach the Microsoft Office suite of applications within those operating systems. I have been using the Windows operating system in the workplace since the mid 90's and have experience with Windows in the following editions: Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7.

Microsoft Word

In addition to using Microsoft Office professionally for nearly 20 years, I have been teaching (full time) Microsoft Office since 2009.

Photography

I have been a certificated Career Technical Education teacher since 2009 (Subject: Information Technology). I have been shooting with Canon SLR and DSLR cameras for over 10 years, and have shot about 200,000 digital images since 2005. The majority of my work has been photographing sports, both for my own personal interest, and to be the team photographer for my children's high school sports teams. I would describe my main style as a 'photo-journalism' style to record the event as it might be presented in a newspaper, but also include more artistic styles that utilize wide angle lenses, and/or very low speed panning techniques. In addition to sports photography, I have a wide area of interests including landscape, portrait, and street photography. I have put together several team slide shows for their teams and other that they were not involved in. I am well versed in digital editing having used Adobe Photoshop since 1995 (version 3). I have owned many lenses including: Canon 400 f/5.6L, Canon 70-200 f/2.8L, Canon 70-200 f/4L, Canon f/1.8, Canon 17-55 f/2.8, Tokina 12-24 f/4, Sigma 30 f/1.4, Tamron 28-75 f/2.8, Canon 17-85 f/4-f/5.6, and have also shot with : Canon 85 f/1.2L, Canon 50 f/1.0L, Canon 100-400 f/4-f/5.6L. I have submitted one photo for a contest on Digital Photo Review, and that photo won 1st place in that competition.

Soccer

I coached youth soccer for more than 15 years in AYSO, and CYSA from U10 through U19 with both boys and girls. I was certified as a Grade 5 Instructor with AYSO, meaning I was certified to teach other coaches how to coach youth soccer. I also served three years as the Regional Coach Administrator, where I was responsible for assuring that all coaches were properly trained for the age group they were coaching in both coaching itself, as well as risk management. I was also a trained referee and worked as a center referee and assistant referee.
