Let me introduce myself. My name is Ms. Melba, and I am a part-time tutor. My teaching experience has included teaching in levels K-5 in public schools. I am currently teaching 4th grade at a LAUSD Magnet School, where I have been a teacher for the past 13 years. A tutoring session with me would include the following:
1) establishing our direction or focus, based on identification of the student's strengths and weaknesses,
2) setting student's goals,
3) establishing student's commitment to achieving those goals, and
4) establishing a timeline for achievement.
I believe that "all children can learn" and achieve their desired learning goals, but it will be best accomplished with the combined commitments of the tutor, the student, and the parent. With that combination, we have a winning team! What is necessary now is to determine what your goal or need is, and how we can best achieve it together.
I look forward to seeing if we have a "match", and to beginning to clear the path to greater understanding for your child, and satisfaction for you, the concerned parents!
