Most students refer to me as "Doc;" it's a name that is easier to remember! I can empathize with students who may have a fear of or difficulty with math and other academic subjects. I was mislabeled special education in grade school, but a special tutor sparked a renewed joy in learning not only math, but all other subjects as well.
In college I majored and minored in math, engineering, science, psychology, and foreign language. Math is a foreign language for many and, like a language, must be practiced daily. Practice makes for continuous improvement and, the more you improve your math skills the more you enjoy it. The same goes for any other subject. Good, better, best, never let it rest until your good is better and your better is...well, better. Even the best in any skill continues to practice for improvement.
My education includes BA, MA, and Ed.D degrees in math and math education. I am also a published writer of self-help books, focusing on a person's search for meaning when going through difficult times. I am an experienced teacher of 7-12, college, and adult learners. I believe that each student is unique, has unique approaches to learning, and can rise and surpass the expectations of a tutor. Together we can renew your spark for learning.
I look forward to hearing from you.
