Hello! My name is Kristine, and I love tutoring and teaching young students. I am a licensed teacher with a Multiple Subject Credential. I have worked at the elementary and junior high level. I have three children of my own, all of whom are now in college! My favorite part of teaching is working with students in small groups or one-on-one. I love helping students really understand the material. I have worked for the last three years as an intervention specialist at a junior high school. I enjoy helping children learn to build critical processing skills which are the foundation for reading, spelling, language, comprehension, and life-long learning. My main goal in tutoring is for the individual I'm working with to comprehend the material and ultimately experience success. I have found that when students achieve success with a tutor, students have the tools to build their own success in school. I am able to give individual attention and meet the student at his or her level of understanding and particular learning style. There are many benefits to private tutoring, including no distractions, the ability to focus on a specific subject area, and providing homework help. I am able to provide these benefits with an enthusiasm for learning while building self confidence and esteem at the same time. I want your student to not only learn the material, but enjoy doing so and feel good about the results!
I am also certified in American Sign Language and have experience tutoring deaf students as well as teaching sign language to children. I absolutely love sign language and would love to teach or tutor individuals and share my knowledge of a beautiful language! I also tutor both high school and college ASL students as well.

Kristine is a wonderful tutor. She is so patient but effective at getting my son to focus on the work for an entire hour, which is difficult for him to accomplish in other situations. She is also organized and creates goals with realistic expectations for my son to accomplish. My son enjoys his sessions with Kristine even though reading and writing are not his favorite activities.
Kristine is a fabulous tutor! She is patient and has really helped my son build confidence in his math skills. He felt that he was "dumb at math" and hated doing math homework. After has last session with Kristine, he told me, "I wish I could have tutoring every day." He looks forward to the sessions and feels proud of his accomplishments.
We hired Kristine over the summer so that our son does not fall behind. She has provided our son with many tools to help him succeed next year. Kristine is able to find a subject of interest and keep our son engaged and eager to learn for the full lesson. He always has a smile at the end of the hour.
My daughter is in second grade and is struggling with reading. Kristine is so optimistic and patient with her. My daughter looks forward for her lesson with Kristine on Thursdays. She really works on building their confidence as well as teaching great tricks to learn new things. Perfect match for us!
Kristine takes her time explaining step by step at the level of comprehension for the child. She makes a difficult skill easier by breaking it down into steps and reviews it over until the child can understand. My daughter absolutely loves working with her. She makes the lesson fun and enjoyable.
Kristine made my seven year old daughter feel comfortable immediately. You can tell Kristine loves to teach and has a true talent with children. I am so happy I found her!
Kristine was wonderful with my daughter. She was patient, thorough and gave my daughter a lot more confidence after just one session. We will definitely continue with Kristine and highly recommend her to others!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
