I have a B.S. from San Jose State University in accounting, and an MBA from Keller Graduate School in business administration. I started my career in accounting as accounting clerk before getting my BS in accounting. I was promoted through the ranks, to staff accountant and payroll supervisor. After receiving the BS in accounting, I was recruited on campus by the State of California, where I worked as an auditor for 5 years.
My career after State auditing, has been mixed, with 10 years in senior level internal corporate finance positions, and another 7 years in internal audit and advisory positions. Some famous corporation I worked for included Boeing, and ICI Paints.
My specialties are internal controls, and financial reporting. I made significant contributions in cost accounting, accounting operations automation and inventory controls. In the past 10 years my greatest contributions have been in regulatory compliance, especially in relation to the Sarbanes Oxley act.
I have experience in training and coaching on the job, as well as classroom training.
My style of training focuses on student participation, rather than lecturing; I help students by giving them the confidence to solve the problems on their own, and by providing them with real life situations from my experience. It is a form of brainstorming where there are no bad answers, but both student and tutor arrive at the correct solution together. This method has been very successful for me over the years, and achieved significant results in the work place.
I enjoy tutoring for the satisfaction of seeing students improve their confidence in the subject matter, and their improvement in test scores.
