My name is Annie.
I was born and raised in Paris, France and French is my native language. I received a very good education at the Sorbonne (Faculte des Lettres, Humanities). My grammar and spelling are excellent.
I am an enthusiastic teacher who likes to share her passion for anything I teach at any level. I understand the necessity for patience in the teaching process. I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others, be they beginners with absolutely no knowledge whatsoever, or engage in more sophisticated conceptual discussions
In France I was a teacher of English as ESL. So I am familiar with teaching languages and I have done so here in California. I have taught language students at all levels
I am currently an adjunct photography professor at several teaching institutions in Southern California and have an excellent track records of students evaluations for my teaching. I teach film as well as digital and am experienced in both. I have shot portrait, fashion, conceptual and human figure in the studio and have good knowledge of studio lighting as well as available light. I have had years of experience in shooting portraits and glamour in my business. I have traveled in many parts of the world and I teach a travel photography class at the UCSD extension. And my personal favorite is documentary photography which I have long practiced.
It will be a pleasure working with you as I love to engage in the exchange interaction that occurs in the teaching process.
Looking forward to meeting with you.
My background with languages is as follows:
Born and raised in France. Went to the best girls'"lycée" in Paris (Victor-Duruy). After my baccalaureate I went on to the Sorbonne/Faculte des Lettres et Sciences humaines where I graduated with honors with a BA in English and American literature and a secondary in Spanish, which makes me fluently tri-lingual. I went on to take a Graduate Certificate in Utopian literature. I was a secondary school teacher of ESL in France for 5 years before coming to the US. We always used the audio-oral method of teaching which involves using mostly the language the student is trying to learn, with image support and finally text to read. This makes me extremely familiar with teaching a foreign language.
I have been a photography professor at Palomar college for 10 years and at UCSD extension for 5. I also taught adult photography classes with Mira Costa for 10 years.
My knowledge covers digital and film cameras controls and usage, knowledge of photo terminology and definition, conceptual imagery thinking, creative techniques using cameras and photo software (Photoshop).
I was also a portrait photographer for many years.
