I am an American with an international background and am perfectly bilingual in English and French. Mastering the written word has always been my first academic love, from earning a creative writing award in high school to writing an honor's thesis in order to graduate magna cum laude from Wellesley College. With a background in psychology, I first worked in the field of law, where I often corrected the English documents of non-native speaking lawyers. I later obtained a master's in educational psychology in Belgium, where I lived for almost 11 years. This degree was completed entirely in French.
After completing my master's, I worked with English-speaking clients in Belgium who needed educational assessments completed for their children dealing with learning difficulties. This required producing complex written reports analyzing the problems at hand and presenting these along with solutions in a clear and concise summary. My writing experience across various domains but also my background in educational psychology have given me an expertise in helping others to learn and perfect a skill that I enjoy immensely.
I began learning French in high school, so I understand the difficulty of learning a second language in school, outside of a family context. I later perfected my French in college and during a study abroad. I then lived in French-speaking Belgium for almost 11 years, where I married and raised a family in French. Having obtained a near-native level of French and an almost perfect French accent, I am uniquely qualified to help other Americans master this beautiful language that I now enjoy speaking with my family on a daily basis.
