Does your child need help with math and science class? If so, I can help. My name is Adrian and I hold both a B.A. in chemistry from Dartmouth College and a Masters in physical organic chemistry from The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI). My years of instruction and practical experience in chemistry labs have equipped me well to explain essential chemistry concepts to a young audience. In 2005 I was awarded the Best Teaching Assistant award for organic chemistry class. At TSRI I also served as a Teaching Assistant. In addition to my background in chemistry, I am very well-versed in basic math, geometry, algebra, SAT and ACT math, and calculus.
Over the course of my career I have worked in academic, industrial, and government laboratories, and by tutoring I hope to share the knowledge gained from that time with motivated students at all different levels. Whether you are an aspiring scientist, or simply struggling to pass a prerequisite chemistry class, my tutoring techniques will help you.
I am also open to tutoring my second language, French, in which I have achieved a high level of fluency through coursework in both high school and college. In 1998 I was awarded a medal for my fluency by the Alliance Francaise. Does your child need help with math and science class? If so, I can help. My son and I have been very fortunate to work with Adrian. He is an excellent AP chemistry tutor.
Patient and knowledgeable . My son keeps consistent A in class and his confidence level is very high.
Adrian is an excellent tutor! He has been tutoring my daughter for six months in pre-calculus. Her grade has improved significantly since the tutoring began. He is great at communicating the material so that she it gets it. He genuinely cares about the success of his students and is reliable, on time and flexible. I would highly recommend him!
Adrian helped my son prepare for the ACT in math and science. Adrian always arrived very well prepared. He explained the material very clearly. He was very productive, covering a lot of material during the sessions. He is friendly, engaging, and good at motivating. My son always looked forward to the sessions. Adrian would follow up between sessions via email. He wrote thorough reports after each lesson. We highly recommend him!
Adrian is infinitely patient and kind to both my teenage son and middle school daughter. He is tutoring my son in Chemistry and Algebra. He has the student explain how he arrived at his answer and helps him to understand a different way. His enthusiasm for answering questions is wonderful, and we works with the student rather than just tell him how to do it. His review notes from the follow up are detailed and thorough, and easily understandable.
My daughter's grade has gone from a F to a C and is quickly climbing higher with Adrian's help. More importantly, she is understanding the concepts. What I really enjoy about Adrian are his follow up emails, which are always insightful and action-oriented. They give us direction on where to best focus. Adrian is always accessible by phone as well and especially helpful right before a big test.
Adrian was very prompt in responding to my emails. He arrived on time and was very polite and professional. My son, who is a sophomore at a college-prep high school, was reluctant to have a tutor. However, he was all smiles afterward and said Adrian explained the chemistry material in easy to understand steps. He felt much more comfortable and confident after his tutoring session. Adrian is very patient and effective. I highly recommend him and plan to schedule with him again.
Adrian has been a godsend for my son in the subject of honors chemistry. His patience and skill at teaching this complicated subject has given my son the confidence to approach this discipline in a positive manner.
Able to evaluate student's understanding of the subject and provide tutoring at an appropriate pace. Very knowledgeable, always reachable in case of conflicts or help outside of sessions.
Adrian is a wonderful tutor. He is very knowledgeable and patient. Adrian is very committed to helping his students and made arrangements to fit my daughter in for a tutoring session with short notice. He is outstanding in bringing forth complicated material and worked with my daughter to be sure she understood the concepts. My daughter is looking forward to their next study session. He is truly outstanding and we are very fortunate to be able to work with him!
Personable and proficient tutor. My son was comfortable and gained a lot of knowledge during his hour session. Adrian is experienced and confident and knows how to present topics as well as relate to children. It was a very positive experience and my son is looking forward to next week. We highly recommend Adrian and hope to establish long-term lessons. Thank you!
Adrian presented the work very clearly, and with an extreme amount of patience. I am not exactly a math type of person, but had to take a required course. I was nervous and overwhelmed. Adrian immediately put me at ease, and showed me how to look at the work one piece at a time. He made the problems understandable to me, and the work even became fun. This was a first for me when it comes to math!
It was great working with Adrian; he was not only patient and knowledgeable, but he was also easy to reach, which was a big plus. I have another math class coming up early next year, and absolutely plan to call upon Adrian again.
Adrian is an excellent tutor, very patient and knowledgeable. He provided tutoring for my USC sophomore this past summer. Adrian worked the problems along with my son, keeping a watchful eye on my son's step-by-step process. He provided very thorough explanations and had my son do "more challenging" problems to build my son's confidence. I highly recommend Adrian for anyone needing Calculus tutoring.
Thank you Janet! Your son is a great student and I am sure this summer's calculus class will serve him well going forward. This was his accomplishment.
Adrian tutors my two boys ages 9 and 7 in math and science. Though Adrian told me he has never tutored anyone younger than a middle-school age student, I wanted someone with a strong science and math background so I asked him if he could tutor my boys over the summer. Adrian, without my asking, created a lesson plan that included tons of hands-on experiments, books that he personally picked from the library for the boys to read, and challenging and age-appropriate math problems for them to work on. My boys LOVE the tutoring sessions with Adrian and have learned so much over the last two months. Initially these were just for the summer but we plan on continuing as my kids begged me to keep these sessions going during the school year. Adrian is always on time, very professional, easy to work with, and patient with the kids. I strongly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a tutor.
Adrian really takes the time to explain subject in detail and always makes sure student understands concept. He presents material in different ways to suit learning style of student. He is very patient and seems to really care about his student's progress. Highly recommend Adrian.
I am so grateful for Adrian's help. He has been able to tutor my nephew in both calculus and physics. He is very patient. He is very detailed in the descriptions of the material that they cover together and in the feedback that he gives on my nephew's progress. I am just so grateful that I found him. A five star tutor all the way. Thank you Adrian!
My nephew received a poor grade in his first semester of calculus, so he is currently taking it again. On the first exam, he got a top grade...over 100% because there were problems one could do for extra credit on the exam. Amazing, jump to an A+, thanks to Adrian's tutoring. He could not have done it without Adrian's help. He is truly fantastic. I would recommend Adrian to anyone looking for a math tutor. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, Adrian
Adrian is a very good tutor. He explains things in a way my daughter can finally understand Physics!! She feels very comfortable with him & her grade is IMPROVING!! He is always on time. He listens and is very patient. We are very happy we chose Adrian as my daughter's tutor. He is excellent. We would recommend him to any parent with a child that is struggling with math or science.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Will you soon be taking the ACT test and need a bit of a math refresher? If so I would be happy to help you. I am fully familiar with the ACT test format and have a number of questions that are representative of those on the actual exam. My tutoring will be excellent preparation for the testing situation and will include drills for speed and accuracy. Let's work together to boost your ACT score! Contact me for more information and to arrange a tutoring session.

As a chemistry major, I was required to take several terms of calculus and differential equations in college. As a high school student I was awarded the Wilhelm Leibniz award for excellence in AP calculus and had enrolled in multivariable calculus and differential equations prior to graduation. As a tutor my focus will always be on the student. Calculus is an exciting subject because it represents a leap into advanced math and therefore it is perfectly normal for someone to seek out extra tutoring in this subject. Please feel free to contact me for more information about calculus tutoring.
Chemistry is sometimes referred to as the fundamental or central science because it forms the foundation of biology and our experience of the everyday world. My approach to teaching chemistry is to focus on those aspects of the subject that are intuitive to our common experiences so as to make the subject understandable and fun. My emphasis will always be on fundamental concepts and using them to approach problem solving. My background has prepared me well to tutor both general and organic chemistry. I look forward to working with you!
I studied French as my second language and won the French Award in High School for excellent performance in the subject. I also won a Bronze Medal from Le Grand Concours, a New York state French competition. In college I took literature courses in French including 20th century and francophone literature. I also lived with a family in France during high school as my study abroad experience.
Do you need help in geometry class? If so I can be your one-on-one tutor for one or several lessons. I am a chemist working in the biotech industry and therefore am very knowledgeable about formulas used in geometry and techniques for solving analytical geometry problems. My background in geometry includes years of math training at Stuyvesant High School, a math and science high school in New York City, as well as undergraduate schooling at Dartmouth College. I am eager not just to get you through your next exam, but also to promote a genuine interest in this subject. Please contact me for more information about geometry tutoring.
Organic chemistry is the study of chemical reactions that pertain to carbon compounds and forms the basis of many of the materials in everyday life including petrochemicals, food, medicines, plastics, as well as paints and dyes. A clear understanding of organic reactions depends upon an appreciation of the mechanism of electron flow. Those topics will be emphasized in my tutoring.
My background and qualifications to tutor organic chemistry include the Shafer and Bowen Award for Excellence in Laboratory Instruction, which I earned from Dartmouth College in 2005 along with my B.A. in chemistry. I have served as a graduate student teaching assistant for Physical Organic Chemistry at The Scripps Research Institute, where my research has concerned the production of libraries of organic compounds for testing in biophysical assays. I am particularly well-versed in amide-bond forming reactions, SN2-type displacements, nucleophilic aromatic substitutions, and the purification of those and related compounds.
Precalculus is a broad category that includes topics such as infinite sequences and series, trigonometric identities, polynomial and synthetic division, as well as analytic geometry (parabolas, hyperbolas, ellipses, etc.). I have found that many students need just a little bit of help coming up to speed in this course because the material is somewhat heavier than in their earlier math classes. It would be my pleasure to help you succeed in precalculus for a few or several sessions.
The SAT math section has evolved over the years and now includes new components such as student-produced responses and questions relating to data analysis and probability.
