I was awarded the highest honor achievable in Mathematics, Summa Cum Laude. I speak two languages, thus I understand the difficulties associated with algebra, as my students put it "algebra has a language of its own!" I have been elected as a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the National Honor Society founded in 1776. I have also been invited and recommended for my performance in the area of accounting as a member of the National Honorary Accounting Fraternity, Beta Alpha Psi.
I have tutored more than 100 students in the course of my 20 year career. My success rate has always been phenomenal for two obvious reasons: one being my in depth understanding of algebra and math in general. This is what one of my professors wrote, "She was clearly the best student in both classes, calculus 1 and 2 and one of my best students in my 7 year career at Texas A and M; all her test grades were "A's" and several of them were 100's." The second reason is simply my love for the subject matter.
In the years of my profession, I have never been late, absent or unavailable. I was committed to all my fellow students even when I was away on vacations. If they needed my help they could either call or fax me.
As a mother of two teenagers, when I was looking for a chemistry tutor for my daughter in 11th grade, these were the qualities that I looked for: Education, Experience and Commitment.
I have a very relaxed and friendly approach. I know how most students that need help in math are already somewhat intimidated. I assure them that math is like any other subject, it's learned and not inherited as so many falsely believe. I then answer any questions they may have and many a time I teach the entire lesson if necessary by examples from their book; explaining each and every step. Once understood, I pick problems from their homework and have them show me how they would answer the questions or solve the exercises.
