My many math students have nicknamed me the Math Magician. Most of my students bring up their math grades at least 1 level and often, if they start early enough in the semester, they bring the grade up 2 grade levels. I have tutored more than 400 students in the course of my 25 year career, from grades 3 through college. My success rate has always been phenomenal for two obvious reasons: one is my in-depth understanding of algebra and general mathematics. This is what one of my professors wrote about my math skills, "She was clearly the best student in both classes, calculus 1 and 2 and one of my best students in my 7 year career at Texas A and M; all her test grades were "A's" and several of them were 100's." The second reason is simply my love for the subject matter. I like to help students achieve their goals in math!
I have a very relaxed and friendly approach. I know that most students that need help in math are already somewhat intimidated. I assure them that math skills are like any other subject. Math skills are sequentially learned and not inherited, as so many falsely believe. I then answer any questions they may have and I often re-teach the entire lesson if necessary by examples from their book; explaining each and every step. Once understood, I pick problems from their homework and have them show me how they would answer the questions or solve the exercises. I tailor-make my lessons to meet the needs of each student, making it very individualized.
In the years of my profession, I have never been late, absent or unavailable. I was committed to all my fellow students even when I was away on vacations.
