I am a licensed teacher with over 2 years of full-time experience teaching high school physics and biology. I have also tutored undergraduate college students in physics and engineering courses. Working with students from widely varied backgrounds and levels is my strength. While physics is my specialty, I'm also very comfortable tutoring algebra, geometry, pre-calc, trig, writing, history, biology, or just study skills & organization. I can focus on one area in depth or spread my attention across multiple subjects.
Over the past 3 years, I've enjoyed tutoring students in the local districts of Carlsbad, Encinitas, and Oceanside. In the process, I've become very familiar with the courses, curricula, and class structures in those schools.
During separate periods over my career, I have been a full-time teacher, an engineer in private industry, and a naval officer. Because of this, I have some unique perspectives to offer. While I currently serve on active duty in the Navy Civil Engineer Corps, I'm able to dedicate several hours per week to a variety of students. Teaching is a craft I've decided to continually develop, regardless of where my current assignment takes me.
You will find my communication style to be very personable, approachable, and upbeat. My approach can be tailored to many grades and skill levels. I know how to teach success, not just subject matter. Tutoring sessions can be as regular or sporadic as needed, with many evenings and weekends available. I can travel to your home, town library, school, etc. (base access is also easy for me).
If you are facing a difficult subject this year, needing to catch up, or looking to get an edge, my tutoring services could be a great match for your needs. I offer professional assistance, but with flexibility, affordability, and personalized attention. Looking forward to working with you and getting results!
