In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been using Adobe Illustrator since version 1.0 as a graphic artist. I also teach Illustrator in community colleges. In addition, I have my own design business, where I use Illustrator for various projects from music video covers to brochures and postcards. I have tutored people needing Illustrator for T-shirt design, Fashion technical flats and designs, logos and promotional media for both digital and print.
I have been teaching InDesign online through Foothill College for over ten years and at eClasses for the past year. I use InDesign for my own lesson plans, syllabai, and general layout needs. I have used InDesign since version 1.0 until the present version of CC. In addition to teaching InDesign, I have used it in my own graphic design business producing flyers, business cards, calendars, posters and even websites. InDesign is similar to Muse and so my experience with both of these products gives me a fuller understanding of the program.
I have been teaching photography for many years and specifically Lightroom for the past six years. I presently teach in San Francisco. I am also versed in Photoshop working with it since version 1.0. As a photographer myself, I use Lightroom as a crucial tool.
I have been teaching and using Photoshop since version 1.0. I have taught Beginning and Advanced Photoshop at three community colleges: City College of San Francisco, Foothill College and Skyline College. In addition, I have done numerous workshops and use it as a Graphic Artist.
I received a certificate in Graphic Design from UCSC. I have also been doing business in desktop publishing and web design where I have produced many desktop publishing pieces such as posters, letterhead, flyers, business cards, CD covers and websites.
I teach Adobe InDesign, the leading desktop publishing software, as well as Photoshop, Lightroom and Illustrator in community college. I am qualified in print production as wells as I have done annual reports for print as well as the desktop publishing items mentioned above. Some of my clients have been Apple Computers, Mark Steinberg, Radhost NGO, Evergreen Plant Service, DeYoung Museum, and Southern California Edison Co.
I hold a certificate in Graphic Design from the University of California, Santa Cruz. I have my own design business for over 20 years. I was a technical illustrator for a couple geological firms for several years. For the past 20 years, I have also taught Adobe software such as Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Lightroom. I have designed CD covers, brochures, annual reports, flyers, ads, cards, websites, t-shirts, and many other professional promotion media.
I have been using the Macintosh computer since 1990. I have also taught Beginning Macintosh Skills at UCSC extension. I have even worked for Apple creating media for their Developers Conference. In my tutoring experience many students use Macs and I sometimes help them with how to navigate in the programs I am tutoring in. At City College of San Francisco, I teach classes in a lab environment, all on Macs. In these classes, in addition to several programs, I teach the basics of the Macintosh computer.
I have been teaching photography at City College of San Francisco for 25 years. I have taught film and digital. I teach how to use the camera, process film, process digital images in Photoshop and Lightroom and photo design as well. Some classes I have taught include Beginning Photography, Photography for the Web, Digital Photography Beginning and Advanced, Photographic Design, Portfolio and Lecture Series. I have a life time teaching credential in Art and Design including Photography.
I have been teaching web design online through City College of San Francisco and Foothill College for over ten years. I have knowledge of programs for web design such as Adobe Muse, Dreamweaver and Photoshop, in addition to using WordPress to construct a web page. I also have knowledge of Adobe Flash. I have created websites in these programs, which shows my knowledge of creating graphics, inserting video, using shopping carts and more. Presently at CCSF, I teach a class titled Photography for the Web where the students create a website as their final project using one of the aforementioned programs.
