I am patient, reliable, and enjoy teaching math. In each of my lessons, I use HOLT Algebra, HOLT Geometry and HOLT Pre-Algebra teaching strategies designed especially for California students. I also provide extra practice to my students via worksheets, enrichment, quizzes, and chapter tests. My students enjoy the worksheets and find them very helpful. I am also experienced with the McDougal Littel Algebra and Geometry textbooks.
My goal is that my students raise their math grade one or two levels and also develop a passion for math. I can explain math in a way that is easy for anyone to understand. I will also identify what, if any, fundamental math concepts may need review that keep a student from performing at their best potential.
My tutoring career began over 3 years ago when I started helping my son and some of his classmates with Prealgebra and Algebra. Since that time my son has raised his Algebra grade more than two grade levels. In both high school and college, I also volunteered to assist many friends, relatives, and classmates who asked for help with their math homework or skills.
My specific areas of expertise are Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Precalculus, SAT Math, GMAT or GRE math preparation.
Before tutoring, I worked as a product and computer science engineer for IBM and other high-tech Silicon Valley companies. I hold a B.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering from UC San Diego. I also attended several semesters of undergraduate studies in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, also known as EECS, at both the University of Santa Clara and the University of Connecticut.
