I am a credentialed science teacher with experience teaching high school AP and International Baccalaureate (HL/SL) Chemistry, College Prep Chemistry, Biology, and Algebra. Currently, I am the science coach at University Charter Schools, CSUCI in Camarillo and teach science in grades k-8. I have experience tutoring college, high school, and middle school students and have always enjoyed helping students meet their goals in challenging classes. In addition to improving their understanding of the content, I emphasize how to be more efficient in their studying and also teach them how to organize their materials, take notes, and create study sheets to aide in their success. I often find that once students begin having difficulty in a subject, their self-esteem can take a hit and they can begin to develop a mental block about the subject. Tutoring is the first step to building up that self-confidence and returning your student to a place where s/he feels accomplished. Every student will struggle at some point in their academic career, it is the smartest ones who seek help.
I have experience teaching AP chemistry and had the highest pass rate in the county while I taught it at Rio Mesa prior to them switching to the IB program. I then went on to develop, write, and teach the curriculum for those courses at Rio Mesa. I am very comfortable with the material and also have a lot of great resources such as old test questions, "cheat" sheets that summarize chapter info, and other tools that would be helpful to any struggling student. I will help you organize the information so that you understand and can apply it to any possible problem you will be given. Having taught the class, I am familiar with the kinds of problems present on the AP exam (I have test questions going back as far as the '80s) and the kinds of questions teachers tend to stress on their exams.
