Ciao ragazzi, benvenuti! Welcome!
Mi chiamo Laura and I'd really love to be your Italian tutor! I've been living in Italy all my life; I moved to L.A. two years ago, after I won the Green Card Lotter. Fortunatissima!
Since I literally won a Lottery, I thought there was something waiting for me here, in the US. Like here is where I was somehow meant to be at this time of my life. I'm a teacher and an actress and I'm so enthusiastic of both of my jobs. I put a lot of acting in my teaching because I feel that's a very authentic way for me to transmit to students this love I have for my country and my language.
My personal teaching method is studied to make students get passionate about the language, Italian, but also to Italy's customs and lifestyle. I will virtually take you to Italy! So be ready to learn typical Italian expressions, hand gestures and maybe some recipes. I'm also a great cook! Learning is something great, so I want it to be a very exciting and fun experience for my students. I want people to happily approach the language.
I was a very good student during my school years, but I learned to study in a very serious and strict way; even though studying was such an enjoyable experience to me, the way I went through it was instead very harsh and severe. This is not what I want for my students. I just want the best for you guys! That said, let me just tell you a little bit about my teaching experiences.
I was an academic teacher at the University of Cassino, Italy. I was an interpreter for two International Companies in Vittorio Veneto and Mantova, Italy. I was an English to Italian translator for Medical Publishing Verduci in Rome, Italy. I now teach privately in L.A. and on remotely. I also taught cooking classes at an elementary school in Glendale. Well, enough said, or as I would say in Italian, bando alle ciance!
I look forward to meeting you soon!
Tanti saluti! Laura
