Hey there! I am a friendly, patient, and very knowledgeable tutor in all areas of English and basic math.
A bit about my qualifications: I am a certified tutor through the National Tutor Association and Pasadena City College. I am also a certified phonics tutor through the Burbank Public Library. I have experience with young children, children with autism, and middle and high schoolers. I also have experience tutoring adults in Pasadena City College's ESL Center.
I tutor in all areas of English, including ESL, grammar, and phonics. I am a second year student at Pasadena City College (admitted to UC Berkeley and University of Chicago; chose PCC for financial reasons), majoring in Linguistics and English. I have taken SAT and AP prep courses and will be able to tutor for those exams as well. I scored 740 on both the English and Writing sections of the SAT. I received scores of 5 on both AP English exams and AP US History. I can help you improve your writing and critical reading skills, as well as explain good test taking strategies for those longer, intimidating exams! I can also help proofread essays for scholarship or college applications, as well as give general essay writing advice.
My tutoring philosophy is to always be flexible and open to the needs of the student. I can help you identify what skills you need to improve on and determine the best way to go about attaining that improvement. I am accommodating, patient, and fun! I can't wait to help you succeed.
