Hello!
My name is Ms. Carrie. I look forward to being on your team towards successful learning. I encourage my students to teach themselves by using creative techniques I learned as an in class aide for LAUSD, private home tutor & behavioral therapist, and after school tutor with the Boys & Girls Club of Burbank. I believe in being hands on when it matters and hands off at the right moment to instill independent success!
I have worked with children and young adults with mild to severe special needs in their homes, on field trips, and in the classroom. I have a BA from UCSC in Costume Design & Art, I have passed the CBEST requirement for substitute teachers, have taken CPR for children and I have more than 15 units in Early Childhood Education Courses. I also have 3+ years of work experience in this field, but most importantly, I have the experience & patience of a mother of one.
I think it's important not only to always teach, but to always learn. So, I am always learning too - with classes, in French, American Sign Language, & sewing. My goal is to give every student the tools to help them progress individually without my help and to be a source of positive support for them and their families.
I hope we meet soon. Thanks!
