I am an American Sign Language teacher and have been teaching ASL at College of the Canyons, Glendale Community College, Pasadena City College, and John Burroughs High School. I use the 1988 "Signing Naturally" and 2008 "Signing Naturally" textbooks and have taught ASL 101, ASL 102, Fingerspelling, and Creative Sign Language. I trained with Deaf West Theatre and National Theatre of the Deaf, and have learned creative ways to use ASL.
I also work on the ASL master team for "Switched at Birth" and develop tailor-made private classes to teach to writers, actors, and crew working in television and film. Previously, I worked as a sign language consultant for professional theatre interpreters working at Portland Center Stage and Tygres Heart Shakespeare Company in Portland, Oregon.
I have more than 5 years of academic teaching experience and have worked with students as young as 7 years old and up to people in their 60s, and can easily tailor tutoring sessions to best fit the client--making it more fun & creative or more academic-oriented, depending on the learning goals/preferences of the client.
