I got TOEFL writing classes from Zsanine. I am not happy with this tutor. She does not have any materials for TOEFL. She provides you with online web links, which you may already have it in the past. She wasted my time and money. She is very slow. She took 1 hour to correct 300 a word essay. Overall, I won't recommend this tutor to anyone.

Thank you for the valuable feedback. It offers an opportunity to improve and learn and for that I am grateful. I'm sorry that you weren't satisfied with the support, time, materials and instruction given, much as a courtesy free of charge. Had I known, I'd have made every effort to meet your needs.
It is unavoidable that tutors and students may have the same study materials as the standard TOEFL resources are widely used and those for specific tests are finite. We are geographically distant, so I offered web resources. Test prep materials can be expensive. The Official TOEFL Guide is updated periodically. It is impractical for some tutors to buy additional test prep materials for one student who will have only one or two sessions. In college courses, students are required to acquire their own texts and study materials.
The writing portion of the TOEFL tests reading, listening comprehension, grammar and writing skills. Based on the areas you requested help on, I searched for and sent you, at no charge, many respected, celebrated resources for these and all aspects of grammar, writing and organization such as The Purdue University Writing Lab, The Guide to Grammar and Writing and recognized ESL/ESOL websites used in the international ESL school I teach in. These are comprehensive treasures of grammar and writing from the most basic through postdoctoral levels of academic writing. They provide a wealth of knowledge that any writer can learn from. If resources offered by a tutor are not useful to the student, the student can specify what they require so the tutor has an opportunity to respond.
During sessions, I use the time, not only for correcting errors, but for explanation and instruction. I assume students seek to increase knowledge. I believe that time spent in thorough detailed study is well invested. It equips the student with understanding beyond memorization and tools to be resourceful and independent in any learning situation. Additionally, I was trained to speak slowly and clearly and to type as much of what I say as possible, during online sessions, for clarity, especially when there can be audio or other communication issues. However, each student is different and this approach may not align with every learning style, preference or need at a particular time. If only proofreading is desired, the student can specify this. For the first couple of sessions, tutors get to know the student and their objectives. Clear communication helps the tutor understand the student's goals and helps student and tutor optimize their time and enhance the productivity of sessions.
Many tutors have full teaching schedules. They may not always have time, prior to a session scheduled on short notice, to read articles, listen to lectures and proofread multiple essays sent by students. Giving a tutor a little advance notice, before scheduling a session, is recommended as it allows for prep time resulting in a better session.
Keeping lines of communication open is considerate of everyone's time. If a scheduled session cannot be kept, informing the other person in advance enables them to adjust accordingly. I don't charge for cancelled online sessions if notice is given. Tutors realize that the unexpected arises and last minute schedule changes may be needed. We strive to be flexible and accommodate these occasions.
One of the many great benefits of WyzAnt is, if a student deems a tutor isn't right for them, there are hundreds of other excellent WyzAnt tutors from a wide variety of backgrounds available. Most, if not all, WyzAnt tutors are reasonable, compassionate educators dedicated to helping students as we, too, were once and are now students in our own ways. We strive to foster collaboration and learn as much as the students do. We commit our hearts and minds to the art and science of education and celebrate the intricacies of the learning process. We derive fulfillment from assisting, if only in a small way, in students' attainment of their aspirations and take joy in students' successes.
I hope this helps in making the most of the student-tutor learning partnership. As stated in our last session, I admire and commend you for your discipline, conscientiousness and dedication to your studies. I regret that I didn't have more time to fully appreciate the details of what you sought and that our work together was cut short. I appreciate the time you took to express your views. Again, please accept my humblest, sincerest apologies for any misunderstanding. I earnestly wish you success and fulfillment in your education endeavors. Thank you for voicing your concerns and the privilege of learning with you.
