I have taught music for over 15 years and have experience from kindergarten to college. I have taught all branches of Music, AP Theory, AP Art History, Writing, Grammar, and Literature. I have a Ph. D. and Master's from U.C.S.D. My main interests in pedagogy relate to critical thinking skills, cultural literacy, and the empowerment of the individual that comes from engagement—that is, the deep immersion in a topic and all of the issues surrounding it, drawing upon the vital crafts of writing, speaking, and negotiating personal difference. I am also committed to the consideration and articulation (again, written and spoken) of the relation of one’s outlooks, origins, and experiences to these topics of study. I have been teaching for 18 years, and have tutored in the above subjects.
