Hi there!

I am currently a computer science PhD student at Cal. Previously, I graduated from Caltech with a BS in Electrical Engineering, a BS in Business Economics and Management, and an MS in Electrical Engineering with a 4.1/4.3 GPA.

I love, love, love math, and am very enthusiastic about teaching others! I have been a Teaching Assistant for undergrad and graduate level probability and statistics courses both at Caltech and Cal. I've also done one-on-one tutoring in probability, statistics, Calculus, and differential equations with undergrad students at Caltech and Cal.

I really enjoy working with students of all levels though! From higher level math right down to elementary school math - I love it all! As a high school student, I was a private math tutor for a 5th grader, and I also regularly helped students in our school's after school tutoring program. I have a lot of experience helping students of all levels!

In addition to teaching the material, I also like to emphasize study strategies and skills. I can't wait to work together! :)

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

MATLAB

I have been writing code in MATLAB for the past 7 years. I'm currently a computer science PhD student at Cal, studying computer vision, and regularly coding in MATLAB for my research. I'm familiar with Simulink, many of the toolboxes (e.g., math, stats, optimization, signal processing, image processing, computer vision, etc.), and have coded numerous GUIs from scratch. I have a lot of experience helping others debug their code. For example, during my masters at Caltech, I was the goto person in my dorm for MATLAB help.

Probability

I have been a Teaching Assistant (TA) for a number of probability courses, both at Caltech and at Cal. As an undergrad at Caltech, I was a TA for the intro to probability and statistics course required for all undergrad students. As a masters student at Caltech, I was a TA for a graduate course on probability and random processes. And finally, as a PhD student at Cal, I have been a TA for an undergrad level intro to discrete math and probability class required for all computer science undergraduate students at Cal. In addition to my experience teaching recitation sections of up to 40 students, I am very comfortable (and experienced with) explaining probability concepts one-on-one :)

Statistics

I tutored a Cal undergrad in introductory Statistics last Spring. This undergrad had dropped the course in the Fall due to a failing grade after the first midterm. After regularly working with me during the Spring semester, my undergrad tutee ended up with an A in the Statistics class. Also, as an undergrad, I was a Teaching Assistant for the intro to probability and statistics course at Caltech.
