My name is Paul (as you've probably gathered from my profile!) and I've had three years of experience tutoring both privately and in university (college) settings in Latin, English, and History.
From 2010-12 I taught as a tutor (aka TA) and locum lecturer at the University of Tasmania, in Australia (which is where I'm from), as well as taking on private students. I gained my Master's in Classics in 2012 and then moved to Sydney, where, in addition to private students, I taught at a pre-Uni college (the US equivalent would be an after-hours school dedicated to preparing students for their SATs). I've recently moved to foggy San Francisco!
My tutoring methods are based around the most important quality I've gained through my experience - versatility.
I've taught students aged 14-70, from a huge variety of backgrounds. I base all my tutoring firmly on a foundation of traditional methods, but beyond that I prefer to teach slightly differently for each student, depending on what makes the most sense for them.
Everyone has different ways of learning, and it's important to recognise this and adapt accordingly to maximise the benefit of having a private tutor.
