Hello! I am a graduate of High Point University where I earned a BS in Psychology and Religion. I recently moved to the Bay Area to attend Church Divinity School of the Pacific where I am working towards earning a Masters of Divinity. Before moving west, I worked as a Special Education teacher in Maryland at a Non-Public Special Education School. I had the opportunity to teach all subject and grade levels from Elementary to Middle to High School and to work with students with a wide range of academic backgrounds.

I was fortunate enough to both teach and learn from students with Autism, Aspergers, ADHD, other Learning Disabilities, Emotional Disabilities, and who had a variety of different psychiatric diagnoses. My teaching style is representative of the breadth of students that I had in my classroom. I understand fully that not every student learns in the same way and that education cannot possibly be a one size fits all model and therefore my approach is creative and individualized while sticking to the necessary content standards. I have experience in both preparing students for and facilitating multiple standardized tests across grade levels.

Aside from teaching, I am also fortunate enough to be Assistant Camp Director and Program Director, respectively of two summer camp programs run from my home diocese; one being for all youth and adolescents ages 7-18 throughout our region and the other being an outreach camp for children ages 7-13 who currently or recently have a parent or guardian incarcerated. Both of these opportunities have allowed me to gain even more experience working with children and adolescents coming from a wide range of backgrounds.

My approach to learning, teaching and tutoring has been shaped and formed by both of the above experiences. I understand that learning can be so frequently an anxiety producing process and I seek to lessen that anxiety by creating a space where it is safe to ask questions, to journey to the answers together and, hopefully, to have fun while doing it!
