Hello! My name is Sandy and I am graduating from UC Berkeley this Fall 2012, with a double major in Integrative Biology and Molecular and Cell Biology. As you can see, I'm sort of a biology geek. I have taken almost every possible college level science class you can think of including general and organic chemistry, physics, and calculus, along with many upper division biology classes. I know how difficult these subjects can be and that's why my patience and calm demeanor allows me to clearly explain topics to students that have a hard time understanding them.
The vigorous amounts of studying required at UC Berkeley has taught me how to efficiently and effectively study for difficult subject matters and how to explain them to others. Many times, I’ve had to work in study groups right before exams, and this allowed us to discuss and explain topics we did not understand to one another. I have gained better communication, time management, and study skills through this experience.
Being an underprivileged individual, I understand the importance of getting an education. I believe that everyone should be given the opportunity to finish high school, go to college, and excel to the highest degree possible. This is why I want to tutor students so that they can get the best education they can and pursue anything they want in life, just like I have. I struggled to make it to college, but now, I’m graduating from UC BERKELEY with TWO science degrees! With the right support and motivation, anyone can do it.
