I am currently employed as an adult ESL teacher for the West Contra Costa Unified School District. As an instructor at WCCAE, I develop and teach weekly lesson plans, with a focus on pronunciation and grammar, for multi-level classes. For my TESOL practicum, I was a student teacher in the Adult ESL program at CCSF. I've been an instructor at the Building Education Center in Berkeley, conducting seminars for homeowners whose second language is English. For thirty-four years I owned and operated a cabinet and furniture making business, where I often worked with customers, as well as employees, whose second or third language was English. My interest in teaching English Language Learners the stressed timed rhythm of English, stems from own work as a published poet. My public readings of my work have often focused on the pronunciation of American English. I have tutored for the Writer's Room at Berkeley High School and at the 826 Valencia Foundation in San Francisco. I have a BA in English and a TESOL from UC Berkeley. I have a Preliminary Adult Education Teaching Credential from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. I am currently enrolled in the DSAE Adult Teaching Credential program at UC Berkeley Extension.
