Looking for help in Calculus, Precalculus, Trigonometry, Algebra, or Geometry?

I'm a mathematics teacher who is extremely passionate about the subject. I have been teaching in the North Bay Area for several years and am excited about the states adoption of the common core curriculum for mathematics. I absolutely enjoy helping students understand not only procedures and algorithms, but critical thinking and mathematical reasoning that helps catapult mathematical and academic achievement.

I have taught classes in Algebra 1, Integrated Mathematics, and Geometry, and am currently teaching Algebra 2 and Algebra 2 honors. I have tutored individuals in all these areas, and have also tutored students in Basic Linear Algebra, Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus, Economics, and Statistics. I especially love tutoring Calculus as I love watching students realize that the material is not as intimidating as it is portrayed in popular media.

Accolades my students have achieved include setting school records on the ASVAB, earning 100% on CAHSEE exams, taking Senior year mathematics during their freshman year of high school, proving conjectures that I have never seen while taking collegiate math courses at UC Davis. These students have gained acceptance from universities including: UC Davis, UC Berkeley, San Jose State University, Sacramento State University, and others. I'm proud of the work these students have completed, am delighted to see parents taking interest in their students, and look forward at the prospect of helping you see the beauty of mathematics!

Hope to hear from you very soon!

Joseph's subjects

####
Algebra 1

I have a mastery of Algebra 1 and Algebra 2. I've been teaching Algebra 2 for the past three years and am very comfortable with the material. I am able to relay and teach same concepts in many different ways to better help a student.

####
Algebra 2

I have a mastery of Algebra 1 and Algebra 2. I've been teaching Algebra 2 for the past three years and am very comfortable with the material. I am able to relay and teach same concepts in many different ways to better help a student.

####
Calculus

I am able to help out with Calculus 1 and Calculus 2 (differential and integral Calculus). This is what is being taught as part of the high school Calculus curriculum. I have experience with vector calculus, multiple integral calculus, and differential equations but I am comfortable teaching the material.

####
Geometry

I am a Geometer at heart. I have a lot of experience with Euclidean Geometry and some experience with Convex Geometry, Hyperbolic Geometry, Spherical Geometry and others. I love the rigor of the current HS Geometry curriculum (Euclidean based) which involves transformational geometry, proof drafting and writing, measurement and more.

####
Prealgebra

I have a mastery of Algebra 1 and Algebra 2. I've been teaching Algebra 2 for the past three years and am very comfortable with the material. I am able to relay and teach same concepts in many different ways to better help a student.

####
Precalculus

Precalculus is a faster and more detailed Algebra 2 course. It covers the 2nd half of the Algebra 2 curriculum during the 1st semester of Precalculus and the deals with Trigonometry in the 2nd half of the course. I have taught Algebra 2 which is part of the Precalculus curriculum for the past 3 years. I'm very comfortable with rational functions, exponentials and logarithms, geometric and arithmetic sequences and series, conic functions and more.

####
Trigonometry

With a minor in mathematics from UC Davis and from the experiences I've had as a teacher, I feel that I'm the right candidate to help students learn trigonometry. I can help students understand the basic trig functions, their reciprocal functions, inverse functions, graphing sinusoids, solving triangles, proving trig identities and solving equations involving trigonometric functions. I teach basic trigonometry at the end of the Algebra 2 classes I teach to get students prepared for success in...

SAT Math

I've been teaching High School Mathematics for three years and minored in Math at UC Davis. While teaching at the high school level, test-taking techniques for the ACT and SAT were embedded into the curriculum, in part to a large percentage of students who are college bound. The mathematics on the ACT and SAT is primarily Algebra and Geometry and I find the problems on the exams exciting (especially those on the SAT)

####
CBEST

I am a teacher who had to pass the CBEST prior to becoming a student teacher. I am a high school math teacher who has taught Algebra 2 regular and honors (and other math courses) for the past 3 consecutive years. I understand most people have trouble with the math portion of the CBEST, I have the potential to positively contribute to people's test taking ability especially within the math portion of the CBEST!

####
Linear Algebra

I have a minor in mathematics at UC Davis, for which I had to take a linear algebra class and a applied linear algebra class. I can teach basic linear algebra including finding determinants, using row reduced echelon form to solve system, operations on matrices, finding inverses, determining if matrices are linearly independent, etc.
