As a recent graduate from CSUSB, with my Master's in English Composition, I am perfectly suited for your writing needs. For the last year, I have worked as a tutor in my campus' Writing Center, where I worked with students all over campus on their writing projects. I have experience consulting on everything from run-of-the-mill essay projects for First Year Writing Classes to creative writing projects, which includes extensive experience working with ESL students. In addition to providing a collaborative tutoring experience in which I value my student as a writer with something to say (I avoid putting words in anybody's mouth, so to speak), I can also provide advice on useful study skills that will help my student grow as a sophisticated writer on their own. Please consider me for your writing needs.

My specialty is working with university students, but I can work with High School and Middle School levels, as well as on personal/independent writing projects.

My times and rates can be flexible and I am willing to negotiate these on a case-by-case basis.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

English

My years of dedicated study of English at the undergraduate and graduate levels qualify me to tutor on this subject. Additionally, over the last two years I have interned with professors teaching various composition classes, from which I've learned about the most up-to-date practices in the field. These, coupled with over a hundred hours working as a tutor in my campus writing center, dispose me to meet the needs of virtually any student seeking help with their English subject needs.

Literature

I have extensive experience as a tutor in the CSUSB Writing Center. I would expect my BA in English and MA in English Composition would also recommend me here. I also have some classroom experience teaching first year composition. Much of my coursework involved complex engagement with a variety of contemporary theoretical and literary texts, marrying the emphasis on composition to a more classical concentration on Literature.

Study Skills

I'd say what best qualifies me to impart study skills is my own academic record. I managed to complete my Masters Degree in three years while opting to take the grueling and risky comprehensive exit exam, which many of my colleagues failed. Preparation for this entailed several months of dedicated study involving hours of reading and writing a day while coordinating remotely with study partners, as well as practice exams with the same team. Everybody I worked with passed. My experience as a tutor in the campus writing center also entailed consultation and advising on the study and work habits of my students.

Vocabulary

I have extensive experience as a tutor in the CSUSB Writing Center. I would expect my BA in English and MA in English Composition would also recommend me here. I also have some classroom experience teaching first year composition.
