Hello! My name is Liliana L. and I focus on Music and English. Both are my passion and I have been active in these fields for most of my life. Right now, at the age of 19, I can confidently say I have grown a lot in these areas.
I started playing the flute since junior high and I have not stopped. In my senior year in high school, I became the section leader for the flutes in our marching band and advanced band (wind ensemble/chamber ensemble). It was one of my greatest and most precious accomplishments.
I began singing at the age of two (imagine that). I joined the choir in my elementary school and continued to sing for all four years in high school. I also became section leader for the soprano section in my choir in my senior year in our advanced choir (vocal ensemble/chamber ensemble). Every year, I was given the opportunity to sing at least one solo performance in our concerts. Now, I have prospective recording studios wishing to sign with me and I am hoping to audition for “The Voice” next year.
I wrote my first professional poem in my first year of junior high. I submitted it to an online poetry contest, made it to the semi-finals, and I was asked if I would give them permission to post the poem in their book. I have written a number of poems since then as well as a number of songs. I am also writing two books at the moment, one of which belongs to a 7-book series. I am majoring in English/Creative Writing in college so I can publish these books.
My tutoring methods for the flute will be to teach how to make an effective sound through the mouthpiece, how to breathe properly (I know this sounds strange but it is crucial in learning how to play the flute), understanding of the chromatic scale, understanding of the basic history of the flute and fellow woodwind family, comprehension and execution of notes and rhythms, and how to properly read treble-clef music.
My tutoring methods for the voice will be to teach the understanding of the solfege, learning of useful warm-up exercises, learning the chromatic scale, understanding the basic history of all branches of the voice, how to sight-read, how to hone the ear for pitch training, comprehension and execution of notes and rhythms, discovering and enhancing the unique style of your voice, and how to properly read the appropriate clef to your voice.
My tutoring methods for English will be to teach comprehension of grammar, daily vocabulary words to enhance vocabulary bank, how to write persuasive essays according to grade level, how to write an effective resumé for job opportunities, how to understand reading material according to grade level, and to introduce reading material that will embellish your reading and writing skills.
Thank you for your time in reading about my experience and tutoring methods in Music and English. I hope you will consider me to teach you in either or both fields.
