It is my belief that all students have the ability to learn. I am a fully credentialed teacher and I have taught in the public schools as a full time music teacher (grades 4-12) and a substitute teacher for all subjects (grades K-8). I graduated from C.S.U. Bakersfield with a bachelor's degree in music and after some thinking time decided to go back for my credential. I'm glad I did; I have loved working with all the various students over the years.
I am a patient teacher who truly cares whether or not a student understands the subject they are studying. I had a terrible time in school with history and math, so I understand how frustrating it can be when a child comes home not knowing how to do their assignment or even how to study it. Because of this, I have been able to teach students how to get around the frustration and even enjoy learning their subjects. I have had many of the students, for whom I have been a substitute teacher, tell me that this is the first time they were able to understand the lessons.
I try to make all learning experiences enjoyable, or at least less horrifying, for the students. It is easier for my music students, of course, but can be achieved in all subjects.
