I have a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mathematics from Carnegie-Mellon University (Pittsburgh, PA). Coursework completed during my studies included calculus, differential equations, and statistics.

I have been working (part-time and evenings) toward a Masters (MA) degree in Secondary Math Education from California State University (Bakersfield) -- I am just two courses "short" on completing this (which has seemed somewhat unnecessary because of my retirement from full-time teaching).

I am credentialed to teach Mathematics (Professional, Single-Subject) with the State of California.

I taught (primarily) Algebra with Bakersfield City School District for 15+ years, and I taught at the high school level (Algebra, Geometry, Statistics) at East Bakersfield High School and Garces Memorial High School for 3 years before I retired from full-time teaching.

I currently serve as a substitute teacher with Kern High School District.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Probability

My B.S. degree in Mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University included courses in probability and statistics. The M.A. degree in Secondary Math Education for which I am completing course work has included courses in probability and statistics.
