Hi! I'm Sailee, an undergraduate student in the college of Liberal Arts Honors at the University of Texas and part-time tutor in Arcadia. I have a solid background in the humanities field, which includes a perfect SAT Writing and Critical Reading score, two perfect AP English scores, and ACT Critical Reading and Writing scores in the top 10% in the nation. Additionally, I have over six years' experience as a copy editor, proofreader, lead editor for two yearbook publications and published author in a medical journal as well as an anthology for short stories. Writing is definitely a huge part of my life, and I strive to gain full expertise in all aspects of it, from handwriting to spelling to critical reading and creative, analytical and persuasive writing.

Most of my tutoring experience has centered around young children; I have extensive experience in creating interesting, creative exercises that engage and intrigue young children to improve handwriting, spelling and punctuation skills. I approach tutoring from a positive perspective, and stick to the belief that kids learn the most when they don't even realize they're learning. In recent years, I have broadened my tutoring students to more advanced, middle-school and high school students who are looking to prepare for the SAT, ACT or just excel in the language arts in general.

My prior experience in publications has led to my expertise in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Office in addition to my liberal arts knowledge. Though I focus primarily in writing and reading skills, I am always open to helping a prospective yearbook/newspaper student or even answer questions about graphic design as a career. I would love to help anyone broaden their appreciation for language arts or gain effective critical reading or writing skills!

I have over six years' experience as a yearbook staffer, designer and editor, which requires extensive knowledge of Adobe InDesign. I have mastered InDesign versions CS5, CS6 and CC. I have also taught workshops to new yearbook staffers about InDesign basics, quick tips and tricks, and have worked directly with a yearbook publishing company to gain more skills from a trained employee.

Chess

Chess is by far my favorite board game! I have been playing since I was six years old, and was involved in competitive chess from grades 4-10. I served as Chess Club Vice President and President during my time at Martin High School, and advanced to the regional finals for three years consecutively.
