As an educator and private tutor, I have been very involved in all levels of education from grade K through high school. My love of teaching children and helping students through private tutoring has become a passion for me. My patience and unique approach to solving problems and explaining difficult subjects to students has proven to be successful and very rewarding. This has given students the confidence they need to tackle any challenging subject with success.
I have over twenty years' experience working with students and am very knowledgeable in current curriculum standards and testing required of students to be successful. I have taught junior high math and writing and have tutored in many core subjects from elementary to the high school level. Sometimes, all it takes is to redirect the student to practice better time-management and study habits and then practice their subject diligently. Other students need greater attention paid to their particular learning style for them to improve in their studies. I know that many students are visual or auditory learners and need several teaching techniques presented to them before a concept is understood.
I am currently volunteering to provide reading intervention tutoring to under-served children in the Pasadena area because of my passion to help children who are struggling to do their best. If hired, I would be more than happy to give any student an exceptional learning experience with my tutoring skills. I am passionate about education and wish to see every student succeed and learn to set high goals for themselves with every possible chance to successfully meet those goals.
When I was a student, I developed a strong work ethic early on, and never let an obstacle hold me back. I never hesitated to ask questions until I felt satisfied and clearly understood whatever problem I was having difficulty grasping. This proved to be a successful approach for me. I graduated with honors from a top university in three years with a focus on Psychology and business and successfully published research on human behavior and memory. I continued studying for an additional quarter to take several graduate financial accounting business courses. I found that persistence and hard work do pay off. Providing tutoring to students who are struggling with a subject is so rewarding for me. The best gift I could ever receive is seeing a transformation in my students when they gain the confidence they need after getting tutored and realize that they can actually be a better student with stronger grades.
