"I admire her for her patience as she spent countless hours teaching me the basics of singing, showing me what it really takes to sing a Broadway musical number, and for being a great friend. I have never met a vocal coach so patient, supportive, influential, and amazing. Without her help I would not have come in as first alternate in the oldest scholarship program for young women in American history. Dominique, thank you for joining me in my DYW journey and I know that if I ever need vocal help again I can count on you."
– Sabrina L., Hacienda Heights, CA (1st Alternative in the Distinguished Young Women of Los Angeles)
I have more than 5 years of teaching experience to students from K - 12th grade. While pursuing a major in Vocal Techniques and Music Theater at the Pasadena City College, I worked as a voice coach at the Academic Education Center. My main responsibilities included creating a Music (Vocal Arts) curriculum and teaching students singing in groups or individual during their summer program.
Prior to working at the Academic Education Center, I also taught voice techniques to teenagers. Working in a diverse city with different ethnic backgrounds gave me an opportunity to express my talent and perform in several non-profit organization shows and charity events.
In addition to working in China, I have been recently promoted as the Children's Ministry director at the Vineyard Foothill Church in San Dimas after volunteering as a 1st - 3rd grade Sunday school teacher for a year.
I am very "hands on" with lessons, making sure we're not just listening but actually learning.
Age group: Kindergarten - Adult
These are some of the fundamentals to be monitored and corrected each lesson:
- The Anatomy of Singing - Bodily and facial posture
- Intonation - Tone and Pitch in sync
- Rhythms and pitches
- Stage presence
- The singing voice - build up and strengthen the voice; define screaming, shouting from singing
