I have a B.A. in political science and international studies from University of California, Irvine (UCI). Hence, I have extensive knowledge to tutor students in history (American, European, world), government and politics, and languages (Japanese and Korean). I am fluent in Korean and can spearhead beginners learning Japanese. However, I am only proficient in the Japanese language.

I have coursework in Middle East geography, so the knowledge gained can apply to other regions of the world.

I have extensive vocabulary due to undergraduate studies. I can tutor in general English skills including proofreading and reading comprehension.

While I studied abroad in South Korea, I tutored English to elementary and high school students, which qualify me to help ESL learners.

Photography is a favorite hobby of mine, so I can tutor students in it. I have coursework in 35mm film photography while I attended high school. In addition, I have experience as a staff photographer for a student-run newspaper at UCI. I can also assist in digital SLR photography.

Algebra 1

I have strong Algebra 1 skills since 8th grade and use algebraic expressions to figure out numerical problems in my life every day.

Algebra 2

I did fairly well in algebra 2 in high school. Thus, I will not steer away from my interest in algebra.

American History

I'm a history buff, which includes American history. I got a 3 on the AP US History exam. I read up on American history occasionally.

Biology

I took high school biology and received an A both semesters. I got a 3 on the AP Biology test. I took introductory biology classes in college. Biology is my favorite science topic.

Vocabulary

I am a constant learner of vocabulary and willing to tutor people in improving vocabulary skills.

Grammar

I am a freelance writer and former college newspaper reporter. Thus, I deal with grammar everyday. Hence, I can tutor people in correcting their grammar issues.

Microsoft Excel

I have taken a precalculus class in high school. I enrolled in AP Calculus AB and calculus classes in high school and college, which suggests I must have sufficient grasp of precalculus to move onto calculus.

I am an avid reader. Thus, I can help people comprehend what they are reading.

Trigonometry

Trigonometry has been in my math classes for a long time. I may need to review the material, but I can help students.

I have been fascinated with psychology since high school. In college, I never really had the schedule to fit in psychology classes. Hence, I read on the topic on a constant basis. However, I did take a class, Psychology/Sociology of the Arts, that taught me the psychological processes in the world of making art.

Anatomy

I took a human anatomy class in college and loved it. I did not get an A in it. However, I know sufficient material to tutor someone in basic anatomy classes.

Physiology

I have taken biology classes in high school and college. Physiology has strong relation to an anatomy class I took in college.

SAT Math

I have sufficient high school math skills to tutor a student in SAT math. The highest math I took was calculus.

Literature

I am somewhat of a bookworm. Reading is a passion and hobby of mine. I have great memorization skills, so I know the history of literature and the style of writing of authors.

World History

I am a world history buff. I have been well read on world history since elementary school.

Adobe Photoshop

I use the shortened version Adobe Photoshop Elements. However, a lot of the skills I learn from the downgraded software applies to the pro version Adobe Photoshop.

Economics

I began undergraduate studies as an economics major with economics courses. I also took business courses too. I can help with basic economics.

Proofreading

I am a freelance writer and former college newspaper reporter. Thus, proofreading is an everyday occurrence for me.

GED

I have sufficient high school skills to tutor people to pass their GED.

Physical Science

I have sufficient knowledge in general physical science from high school classes. Also, I am an avid learner of science everyday.

Geology

By living in Los Angeles area for over 20 years, I have experience earthquakes and enjoy the coastal formation along beaches. Geology is interesting and provides clues about how the Earth works.

Philosophy

I am intrigued by philosophy. I am a self-scholar of philosophy.

I took AP Art History in high school with a score of 4 after taking the AP exam. In addition, I took an art history class during my undergraduate years. As a cultural enthusiast, I frequent art museums wherever I go or live. Thus, art lives within me. Hence, I can tutor in art history.
