Highly qualified credentialed Math Teacher with several years experience. Worked as a math tutor in the Center for Academic success and for disadvantaged students at the community college level. I taught Mathematics and English for foster care youth during a summer internship. I assisted students with disabilities to master math skills and taught a computer based Algebra course. I have been substitute teaching for close to five years in several school districts, including long-term assignments. While obtaining my teaching credential I taught Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus. Upon completion of my program, I worked as an intervention teacher for an after school Geometry class for at-risk youth. For the past two years, I have completed long term substitute teaching assignments for high school students teaching Geometry, Integrated Math, and most recently a remedial Algebra 1 class.
I am dedicated and patient. My lesson planning is prepared, thorough, and detailed. I bring insight into identifying and filling in gaps of understanding. My focus is on guiding learners to becoming independent problem solvers by gaining the knowledge, tools, and confidence needed to succeed. My approach to teaching is flexible and directly follows from the needs of the individual learner. I provide both a pre-test and post-test with additional weekly progress reports.
