Hi, My name is Bryan. I’m a professional freelance CG artist of 16 years. My specialty is texture painting.

I have a huge passion for this art form and equally enjoy sharing with other up and coming artists what I’ve learned along the way.

I have worked in film and TV wearing many hats in CG. From modeling, texturing lighting, animation and composting. Roto, match move and some editing.

My tools are Maya, Mari, Body Paint, Photoshop, Mudbox and After Effects that I have used in production for Nickelodeon's Kung Fu Panda, Penguins of Madagascar, Fanboy and Monsters vs Aliens. And a few shots in Spiderman 2, Death Race and Behind Enemy lines. At times I will use a digital camera for reference shots, textures and for just doing photography. Film & digital.

Sorry, no character modeling, sculpting or character animation as of yet.

I taught one semester (3 classes) of CAPS at the Academy of Art University. This was a CG prerequisite course of the basics in Maya, Photoshop and After Effects.

If you want to learn and get a handle on the software or get over the hump in making your project look good, I can help. At your own pace. Where you can appreciate the technical side and enjoy the artistic side even more.

If you love the art of CG, keep at it. Each challenge makes you stronger and stronger.

I hope I can help you out in getting there.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Adobe Photoshop

As a freelance computer graphics artist, I have used Photoshop daily since 1995. It is the creative hub for many forms of digital art. Photoshop is the go to tool I rely on and can help students not to be intimidated by it, but to appreciate its creative value and power.

General Computer

I'm very comfortable working with both Mac and PC platforms. I enjoy helping people getting use to their desktop, getting a printer to work or troubleshoot a computer or software problem.
Many times I've helped friends walk it through over the phone.

Macintosh

I use both the PC & Mac everyday in my work or Mac for photo editing, compositing in AE, editing video in FCP, using Photoshop and several Adobe programs. Too many apps to list.
If someone needs basic Mac computer help or learning an application, I can help.

Maya

I have been using Maya since 1998 when I was learning version 1.0 & Unix while interning. I loved it.
I taught the basics of Maya at the Academy of Arts for a semester and really enjoyed teaching each student--what a rewarding experience. I can share with you what I've learned over the years in production as we move forward in getting you started in Maya or working on an assignment.

Photography

Like computer graphics, I have a big passion for photography. I studied in junior college with film. I have experience with medium, large format and 35mm. Film and digital. I look forward in sharing my experience with you in learning photography.

Very patient and great photographer — Bryan is patient and very knowledgeable about photography, and especially my son's DSLR Nikon. My son is 18 and taking Photography in college and trying to learn the overall features of this new camera. He said that Bryan was very clear and he learned a lot from him. He likes Bryan as his tutor, so we will continue with him for as long as my son needs his expertise. He is an excellent tutor. ...
