I've been a writing instructor for the past 25 years at California State University, Fullerton, where I received my B.A. and M.A. in Communications. I also attended Fullerton College and DeVry Institute. And I've also taught English online at the University of Phoenix and Corinthian Colleges. I write for a living, both creatively and in a straightforward style. I've written several published and produced comic stage plays, including "Game Show." And I also write full-length screenplays.

Additionally, I've worked as both an editor and proofreader. My most notable long-term editing/proofreading jobs were with Southern California's upscale Gelson's Market and the best-selling bicycle manufacturer, Electra Bike, headquartered in Vista, California.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

CBEST

I believe I'm extremely qualified to tutor the CBEST, for the following reasons. I passed the CBEST with flying colors and thus was able to become a top-notch substitute teacher for both the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District and the Whittier Elementary School District.

Moreover, I have an M.A. in Communications from Cal-State Fullerton and taught English courses 1A and 1B for both the University of Phoenix and DeVry Technical University. I've also received only A's and B's in math courses in high school and college.

Finally, I've received extremely high overall ratings from all of my WyzAnt tutees.

College Counseling

I've helped a number of students with their college admissions applications, including both of my children. Each was accepted by a branch of the University of California.

Elementary (K-6th)

I'm an excellent instructor of English and Writing at the college-level who also worked for several years as a substitute teacher for the Placentia-Yorba Linda School District and the Whittier School District.

As a substitute teacher, I often worked with students in K through 6th grade. I also have been a long-time youth basketball coach for both boys and girls playing in the non-profit Yorba Linda Basketball (YLB) League.
