All of Virpaul’s current tutoring subjects are listed at the left. You can read more about Virpaul’s qualifications in specific subjects below.

Algebra 1

Since working as a tutoring, I have helped many students taking algebra I, some which had completely skipped pre-algebra.

Algebra 2

I achieved A's in my algebra II class in high school and have been tutoring many high school students in algebra II through WyzAnt.

Calculus

Calculus has always been my favorite math subject. I received A's in both calculus classes I took in college as well as A's in both semesters of my pre-calculus in high school.

Chemistry

When I was an organic chemistry tutor at UCI, we shared the tutoring room with general chemistry tutors; I would aid students that came by looking for help with general chemistry when there weren't any general chemistry tutors available. Since joining WyzAnt, I have tutored various students with high school- and college-level general chemistry.

Classics

I was enrolled in two Greek Mythology classes at UCI and received A’s in both classes. I still have the textbook as well as my old notes, lecture recordings, study guides, practice quizzes, and previous exams.

Elementary Math

With my background in math, I feel properly equipped to be able to aid students with their math classes. Probably the most important requirement to tutor elementary students is patience, which is why I do not get frustrated or rush to judgement. Since joining WyzAnt, I have tutored various kids in elementary math.

Finite Math

With finite math covering: matrices, system of solutions, sets, probability, statistics, and linear programming, I have been tutoring students in all of these topics.

Geometry

With all the shapes involved in geometry, I feel that I can tutor the subject easily due to it being a more visual subject and have been to various high schoolers.

Organic Chemistry

I was an organic chemistry tutor for the Department of Chemistry at University of California, Irvine for a year, and then became the coordinator for their organic chemistry tutoring program the following year, where I worked with about 15 tutors.

Physics

Physics has always been my favorite subject. I have taken 4 semesters of algebra-based physics in high school and college and received an A every semester. In high school, I had my first exposure to physics, where I gained a strong understanding of the subject and used it to ace the course as well as aid my classmates in understanding the material. In college, I completed my physics courses while on a study abroad program in England and again aided my fellow classmates, some who were taking physics for the first time.

Prealgebra

When tutoring pre-algebra, I help students with their homework assignments and explain the material as we go through it. If we finish all the problems they were assigned, I can explain the material they will probably be seeing next or come up with problems for them to do that are very similar to their assigned ones.

Precalculus

Getting A's each semester/quarter in every class of pre-calculus and calculus I have ever taken, I fully understand the material and have been able to use it to aid students navigate through their classes.

Trigonometry

The second half of the algebra II class I took in high school involved trigonometry and I was able to attain an A for the semester. With trigonometry being the bridge between algebra and calculus, I have been able to use my trigonometry knowledge to help students transition from algebra onto calculus.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
