In the past 7 years, I have worked as a behavior interventionist, a sub for both mainstream and special ed classes, 1:1 student aid/tutor, as well as a camp councilor/instructor. While working in these various roles, not only have I learned various educational strategies and Applied Behavioral Analysis principles. But how to use them and incorporate them in my instruction when working with students in any capacity. I have personally worked with several students who were diagnosed with ADD/ADHD and helped them become successful by providing breaks, taking away distractions, and creating an environment that's conductive to learning.
I have been doing freelance graphic design and web design work for the past 5 years. Photoshop is one of the major programs I use to create various items for web and print use. I do also use the program to manipulate photos for either business or personal use. I also use the Photoshop express app on my iPhone.
I am qualified to tutor for elementary K-6 grade students because I have taught for the past 5 years in education. I have worked as an 1:1 aid, after school assistant supervisor, summer camp instructor/counselor, behavioralist, and a substitute teacher. Through these various positions I have gained experience in creating instruction, running small and large groups in an elementary setting, and working with a diverse group of learners.
I have been using computers for the past twenty years, both for personal and work related use. While in school, I have learned various software programs, creating websites, and have built a computer from scratch several times.
Programs that I am knowledgeable in: Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, InDesign, Windows, Mac OS, Word, Excel, Outlook, and many more.
I have been working as a behavior interventionist for the past 7 years. As a behavioral interventionist, it is my job to not only record and input data obtained while with a client, using excel; but to keep track of the clients progress on a graph created in excel. I have also personally used excel to create a personal budget and to keep track of my income and expenses. Lastly, I have previously helped a student learn excel.
I was previously contracted with Sylvan Learning Center, where I had work with first and second grade students in helping them improve their reading and writing skills.
I have also worked as a 1:1 with students in a Read 180 program on several occasions while working for Napa School District
I have worked in the education field for the past 5 years. During this time I have worked as a 1:1 aide and a behavioralist for those with special needs in a mainstream setting and special day class. I am familiar with Aspergers, autism, brain trauma, and ADD/ADHD. I also developed PECS for students that can't communicate, implemented applied behavioral analysis practices, discrete training, and collecting data on behaviors or other academic goals. I am currently going to school for a special needs multi-subject credential.
Having a masters in teaching and having worked in education for the past 7 years, I have worked with students who are a diverse group of learners. On several occasions I helped run small groups for reading, writing, math, homework, and science. I would help them with notes, memorizing information, test taking strategies, and used and taught mind mapping skills.
I have built and maintained several websites using the Wordpress platfrom. I am familar with (x)html, css, php, css, and many other languages. I have gained a lot experience in creating websites when I went to school for graphic design, as well as being self taught.
