Your step by step, tailored approach is here!
I am invested in productive and positive learning experiences for students of all ages! I am very patient and can assist with improving your ability to apply the basic skills and concepts related to a variety of topics. My focus is on writing, psychology, and research.
I really enjoy the opportunity and challenge of working one on one to individualize a lesson!
Working one on one allows for a more thorough assessment of a student's skills.
Understanding your strengths and weaknesses allows for a more effective approach of teaching and learning.
In general, I utilize a strength based model when teaching. Strength based approaches can enhance student motivation, self-efficacy, and general feeling about the learning experience which can positively impact a students' investment in learning, comprehension of the material, and overall performance.
ABOUT ME:
With a Master's and doctorate coursework in Clinical psychology, I have been trained to assess and evaluate children and adults strengths and weaknesses. I have learned and can apply my understanding of the multiple factors that influence our development, comprehension, and performance. As a result, I am prepared to assist you with understanding, learning, and remembering the material at hand.
Over the past 10 years I have taught, facilitated workshops/trainings/groups, and provided consultations and technical assistance. During this time I have gained an in-depth understanding of human development and behavior. My teaching experience includes teaching primary, secondary, and college level students. I also have experience with tutoring, testing, and conducting assessments and evaluations of children and adults.
Experience working with students who are mono, bi, or multilingual has advanced my understanding of grammatical challenges some students face when writing. I have worked with college and graduate students on how to write literature reviews(s) and assist them in developing their ability to see how all the pieces fit together, improve their critical thinking skills, and how to effectively synthesize information.
Research experience in university, medical, and community-based settings have prepared me to work with students on a wide range of empirical studies and teach the core scientific method. My ongoing involvement with applied research and the community, presenting at conferences and describing data to professionals and community members has provided a strong grasp of research and statistical analysis.
I welcome students of all ages to contact me!
