Algebra 2

I am a professional math teacher with over 15 years experience in teaching, tutoring and coaching algebra 2 and trigonometry and preparing for pre-calculus and calculus.

C++

In addition to having completed courses in C, C++, and Java programming. I have taught C++ and C as an AP course at the high school level.

Calculus

Aside from tutoring students in Calculus, Differential Equations and Linear Algebra while in college, as a high school teacher I teach the AP Calculus course which is equivalent to a first semester college course.

Computer Programming

In addition to having completed courses in C, C++, Java, Unix Administration Shell Programming, I also studied Pascal, MATLAB, and r on my own.

Desktop Publishing

I have complete mastery in both Mac and PC computers using MS Word, Excel, and Access as well as AppleWork and Pages. In addition, I I am familiar with linux-based Xfig and java-based jFig drawing programs as well as LaTeX for mathematical typesetting in linux, Windows or Mac.

Farsi

I am a native speaker/writer of Persian. In addition to studying Classical Persian Prose and Poetry at U.C. Berkeley, I have also taught basic Farsi to elementary level children. In addition, I am credentialed teacher in Mathematics.

Geometry

I am a professional math teacher with over 15 years of experience in teaching, tutoring and coaching students in geometry, honors geometry and remedial geometry. With just a few sessions, you will gain confidence and understanding of the material.

Linear Algebra

As a math major, I have taken both the basic course as well as the advanced course in linear algebra. In addition, I have taken 2 semesters of numerical analysis which involves large amounts of linear algebra theory and application.

Logic

Besides being a teacher of Geometry, my area of specialization for my undergraduate pure mathematics degree was logic and set theory. I am able to teach and tutor the basic concepts in both logic and set theory, prepositional logic, and axiomatic set theory.

Macintosh

I am a Mac user and as such regularly install and upgrade my system. I can write simple scripts and use the terminal if necessary.

I have complete mastery in AppleWork and some Pages. In addition, I I am familiar with java-based jFig drawing programs as well as LaTeX for mathematical typesetting on the Mac.

Pascal

In addition to having completed courses in C, C++, Java, Unix Administration Shell Programming, I also studied Pascal, MATLAB, and r on my own before taking an actual Pascal class. I have a sizable library of code in Pascal.

Precalculus

Experience teaching and tutoring math analysis and precalculus at the honors and regular level. Knowledgeable of both necessary material for the course as well as sufficient preparation for the AP calculus class. My goal is to help the student understand the concepts rather than memorize formulas in order to achieve success far beyond the tutoring sessions.

Trigonometry

I am an experienced teacher having taught all high school and early college level courses. I have extensive background with Trigonometry and Algebra 2 as well as Geometry and Pre/Calculus.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
