My name is Christina. I'm currently a graduate student at CSUEB studying Mathematics. I plan on teaching at the community college level after I get my degree. I have been tutoring for 4 years. The subjects have ranged from pre-algebra to Calculus II. I have taught Algebra for the past year at CSUEB to college freshmen. I have also worked with middle school students the last two summers. I have worked with students who range in age from 10 to 60+.
A lot of people know math, a lot of people can tutor math, but for me it's about the individual needing help. Everyone has their own style of learning. It takes time and effort to figure out the best way to learn. Math is not easy. I tell my students it's like learning a foreign language or learning how to play a musical instrument. It takes time. It takes effort. It helps to have someone you're completely comfortable with guiding you along the way.
While I enjoy teaching, my true love is working one-on-one with students. I feel I make more of a difference to the students I teach during office hours. For some reason, students don't connect with their teacher as well in a classroom setting as they do one-on-one or in smaller groups. I get to enjoy those lightbulb moments in this way as well.

Christina A is an outstanding teacher/tutor! Her analytical approach to math/pre-algebra is perfect for my learning style. It took only one hour working with Christina to learn how best to analyze and solve a math problem. At this time, I feel more confident about building a solid math foundation.
Christina A. is an excellent math tutor. Christina asked all the right questions to help me get out of a rut with my math. I felt comfortable and confident as I learned new techniques and new ways of looking at math. She is easy to talk to and well experience with interpersonal skills. Christina introduce me to online math information to practice my math skills. This is what I need to learn to become independent and build a strong math foundation. I have learned a new way of taking notes in my math class that I am excited to try in this week in class.
Christina A. is an experienced tutor and have compassion for her students.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
